What we collect and why

We collect your name, date of birth, contact details and entry video link to assess your entry and manage your participation. For entrants under 18 we also collect a parent or guardian's name and contact number. We do not collect anything we do not need.

If you opt in, we'll also use your email to send you information about future competitions and events at The Lark. This is entirely optional and separate from your competition entry.

Legal basis

For adults (18 and over): the contract formed by entering the competition. For entrants under 18: explicit consent given by a parent or guardian.

For marketing communications: your explicit, separate opt-in consent (or your parent/guardian's, if you are under 18). You can withdraw this at any time without affecting any other part of your relationship with us.

Who sees your information

Your entry details and video link are seen by the shortlisting panel and the judging panel only. Nothing is shared with any sponsor, third party, or member of the public without your separate written consent.

How long we keep it

We don't host your video file - it stays on the platform you shared it from (YouTube, Google Drive or Dropbox). We delete your video link and other personal details from our own records within 30 days of the final (by 27 September 2026). Removing or restricting access to the video itself on the platform you uploaded it to is your responsibility. If we wish to use footage for promotional purposes we will contact you separately and ask for permission first.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, and delete information we hold about you, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email info@thelark.ie. If unhappy with how we handle your data, contact the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Streaming and recording

The live shows will be streamed online and recorded. An entrant under 18 cannot appear on the stream without stream consent given by their parent or guardian.
